We started Landlord HQ because the tools for small portfolios were either enterprise software with an enterprise sales cycle, or a spreadsheet and a stack of checks.
Our story
Landlord HQ started the way most useful software does — someone got tired of their own workaround. Our founder was running a growing set of units out of a spreadsheet, a shared drive full of scanned leases, and a phone full of maintenance texts. Rent arrived by check, by three different apps, and occasionally in person.
The first version was a single dashboard: every lease, its rent, and whether it was paid. Tenants got a portal with one job — turn on autopay. Late payments dropped, the chasing stopped, and other landlords started asking to use it.
Today Landlord HQ is a full rental portal you can run on your own infrastructure, with rent collection, lease tracking, document storage and tenant messaging in one place — free for your first five units, and priced flat after that.
